Port Jefferson will host it’s first annual Port Paws Dog Festival
Join us for a weekend of laughter, amazement and even find your new best friend
PORT JEFFERSON, NY (July 23 & 24, 2022) — What happens when you combine flying dogs, local rescues, maze running, and (crossing our fingers) a lovely summer weekend? It's the Port Paws Dog Festival. We all love our furry friends, and on July 23rd and 24th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Port Jefferson is going to the dogs at Caroline Ave Park. Bring your favorite canine(s) and enjoy the pure joy of our Port Paws Dog Festival. This family-friendly weekend is filled with the Dock Dogs competition, a maze running track, food trucks, vendors showing off the latest animal toys and treats, and the cutest adoptable dogs that will steal your heart. It is a great way to spend time in beautiful Port Jefferson Village. All animal lovers are welcome to join, with or without their canine companions.
Come see Dogs Fly! Literally! You will be amazed at the agility and sheer strength of our four-legged athletes. The Dock Dog events include - The Big Air® competition that features dogs running down a 40' dock and diving into a pool of water after an object. They are electronically judged for the length of their jump. - The Extreme Vertical® competition is a "High Jump" for the dogs as they lunge to snag a "bumper" suspended in the air. With each grab, the height increases in 2-inch increments until only one dog is crowned king. - Rounding out the action is Speed Retrieve® – where the dogs are put on the clock to see how fast they can run down the dock, jump into the water, swim to the end of the pool, and retrieve an object which is held by a modified extender arm. The competition is open to all types of canines and handlers above the age of 7. Friday, July 22nd at 4:00pm is our pre-registration event and then a try-it for dogs that are not competitors is from 5:00 till 7:00 pm.

Tickets are $10 per person - children and dogs are free. This weekend of fun, fur, and family is presented by The Port Jefferson Harbor Education and Arts Conservancy (PJHEAC) and the Village of Port Jefferson Economic Development Office. All proceeds go to PJHEAC.
